General Information
The National High School Band Director's National Association (HSBDNA) is proud to announce the formulation of the new National High School Band for both MARCHING and CONCERT Organizations.
Band Students will have the opportunity to be named to this prestigious honor and proclaim national recognition for their achievements. Directors have the unique opportunity to nominate the band members and provide a way to award those outstanding students who are so deserving of national recognition.
Each band member will be honored by their instrument, school, parents/guardian and director and listed in a yearly publication of honorees. Each band member will receive a commemorative plaque and medal. Additionally, the band members name and picture will be placed on the HSBDNA web site.
Rules and Procedures
Nomination Procedure
Selection is determined on the recommendation score of the Director only. Directors simply fill out the Form (excel) by placing the student name, instrument, and placing a recommendation score from 1 (low) to 10 (high). The form will automatically calculate the numbers.
The highest numbers are calculated for each instrument. The top ranking students (per maximum selection) will be placed into the national band. All other students receiving a ranking will be named as an Alternate to the organization.
Recognition
The HSBDNA will announce the recipients and place the students picture on our web site for one month.
102 Members are selected for the National Marching Band (max)
75 Members are selected for the National Concert Band. (max)
Publication
Students, Directors and Parents have the opportunity to purchase (optional) a yearly publication compilation book naming all honorees.
Nomination Requirements
Students must be a current band member in good standing with their school. Each director may not nominate more than five students for each band.
Other Requirements
