Museum

This new facility will feature a remarkable music museum filled with historic artifacts, exhibits, and displays celebrating the rich legacy of band education. Visitors will have the opportunity to explore artifacts from legendary figures such as John Philip Sousa, Archie McAllister, William Revelli, John M. Long, and many other pioneers who will have shaped the history of band education.

The collection will also showcase artifacts from members of the National High School Band Director’s Hall of Fame, including hats, uniforms, batons, original music manuscripts, trophies, photographs, videos, instruments, and many other items of historical significance. Together, these collections will preserve the stories and accomplishments of the individuals who will have made lasting contributions to the world of music education.

Auditorium

The proposed auditorium will feature a spacious performance area designed to accommodate a wide range of events. The facility will be equipped with advanced audio and visual recording capabilities, allowing performances to be professionally recorded and preserved.

The stage will provide ample space for performances, with additional square footage and a backstage loading area designed to make the loading and unloading of equipment efficient and convenient. The auditorium will feature a level, adaptable floor that will allow the space to be transformed for a variety of uses, including concerts, theatrical productions, banquets, receptions, conferences, and corporate events.

Recording Studio/Lab

The recording studio and lab will be a multifaceted facility equipped with state-of-the-art digital technology for both audio and visual recording. Performances, educational programs, clinics, and presentations will be recorded and made available electronically to educators and students around the world.

This facility will help expand access to music education by providing resources that will support teachers, students, and music programs through online learning and digital educational services.

Music Technology Center

The Music Technology Center will serve as a comprehensive resource for educators, students, researchers, and anyone interested in the field of band education. The center will feature computers, digital media, music education publications, books, periodicals, and other resources that will support advanced research and the integration of technology into the band curriculum.

It will be a place where visitors will be able to browse, read, listen, research, collaborate, and engage in meaningful learning experiences focused on the past, present, and future of band education.

The Sousa Room

Named in honor of the legendary John Philip Sousa, the Sousa Room will showcase artifacts, memorabilia, and historical materials connected to the life and career of the "March King." The room will serve as both an educational resource and a lasting tribute to one of America's most celebrated bandleaders and composers.

Through its collection and exhibits, the Sousa Room will highlight Sousa's enduring influence and his significant contributions to the growth and development of the band movement and music education.

The Long Room

Named in honor of the legendary John M. Long, the Long Room will feature artifacts, memorabilia, and historical materials celebrating the life and legacy of one of America's most influential band directors and educators.

The room will serve as an educational resource and tribute to a leader whose influence has extended across generations of band directors. His legacy will be preserved through exhibits that will highlight his contributions to the training and development of music educators throughout the United States.

Additional Facilities

The facility will also serve as the national home of the HSBDNA, providing offices for the executive director, curator, and other administrative staff. Additional spaces will include classrooms, a conference room, and a comfortable lounge area designed to encourage collaboration, conversation, and fellowship.

Together, these spaces will create a dynamic center dedicated to preserving the history of band education, celebrating its leaders, supporting today's educators, and inspiring future generations.
