John M. Long National High School Band Director Award

Dr. John M. Long

For more than thirty years he led the Troy State University to hights of greatness and academic excellence.  A member of the prestigious American Band Director's Association, his ensembles played for elite events such as the ABA, the CBDNA, and the SEUS.  Two buildings on the Troy University campus bear his name in cluding the John M. Long School of Music.  Prior to arriving at Troy, he led the Robert E. Lee Band of Montgomery, Alabama to national acclaim including the Sudler.  He has trained more high school band directors than any other teacher in the United States.
