Dr. Jeffrey J. Tower

Dr. Jeffrey James Tower received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Music Education from the University of Northern Iowa and his Master of Music degree in Trombone Performance at the University of Redlands. He was awarded an Honorary Doctorate Degree from Pacific Western University for his accomplishments in Music Education. Since 1977, Dr. Tower has been the Director of Bands at Hemet High School in Hemet, California. Under his direction the Instrumental Music Program has grown to become one of the nationís finest. In conjunction with his duties at hemet, Dr. Tower is also Chairman of Summer Jazz Studies at the Idyllwild Arts. He has served as an adjudicator, clinician and guest conductor at music festivals, conventions and camps all over the nation in both Jazz and Classical venues. He serves aas an Educational Specialist and Tromone Artist for Conn-Selmer Musical Instruments Inc. USA and is a member of the University of Northern Iowa School of Music Advisory Board and American Band College Faculty. Jeff serves as the Executive Director for the Music Festival Rock with Music and is the Marketing Director for LMP Studios. He served as President for the International Association of Jazz Educators in California and Jazz Coordinator for Southern California School Band Association for term of four years. Among his special awards include: Outstanding Educator at the World of Music Festivals, Hemett Jaycees Teacher of the Year, National Band Associations Outstanding Jazz Educator Award, WIBC Phoenix Award, Mid West Band and Orchestra Medal of Honor, Downbeat Magazines Jazz Education Achievement Award and the Legion of Honor by the John Philip Sousa Foundation. His bands have played for audiences in Europe, Japan, Canada, and all across the United States. Special performances include the Aloha Bowl, the National Music Educators Convention, Mid-West International Band and Orchestra Clinic, International Association of Jazz Educators Conventions, National Association of Music Merchants, Western International Band Clinic, Montreaux Jazz Festival and the Tournament of Roses Parade. As a professional trombonist in Southern California, he has experience in symphony orchestras, movie soundtracks, broadway productions, television commercials, and celebrity shows. He has backed artists such as Frank Sinatra, Bob Hope, Red Skelton, Ray Charles, Sammy Davis< Jr., and Tony Bennett. He was selected as an outstanding educator at the World of Music Festivals, the Hemet Jaycees Teacher of the Year, and the National Band Associations Outstanding Jazz Educator Award.
