Richard Frances Hinkle received the Bachelor of Science in Music Education and the Masters of Music in Theory & Composition from Temple University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He has been named as the “Outstanding Jazz Educator in Pennsylvania” by the National Band Association and is a Colonel in the United States Army Reserve. He has taught in Fountain Hill School District and more than 25 years in the Allentown School District at both Dieruff High School and Allentown High School. His bands have performed for the New York Giants; Washington redskins; Philadelphia Eagles; and the Dallas Cowboys. The Allentown Band won the Salute to Isreal Parade in New York City on 5 separate occasions. They have also performed for the Orange Bowl Parade; Cotton Bowl Parade; Edison Pageant of Lights Parade; Knottsberry Farm; Cherry Blossom Festival Parade in Washington, D.C.; and the Tournament of Roses Parade in Pasadena, California. He has served as an adjudicator for a number of marching band festivals including: Easton; Phillipsburg; Bangor; and Dieruff (Pennsylvania) He is a member of the National Band Association and Kappa Kappa Psi.
