Dr. Oliver C. Boone
Kendrick HS
Columbus, Georgia


Dr. Oliver Boone is a dean and professor of school educational school leadership with a major university.  A former school principal, he serves as a national educational consultant with a major school curriculum organization. He received the Bachelor of Music Education degree from Troy State University in 1979. He received the Master of Music Education degree from Alabama State University in 1987 and the Master of Science in Educational Leadership from Troy State University in 1989. Additionally, he received the Ph.D. in Education from Walden University in 1996.

A former concert pianist, his bands have won hundreds of awards during his career. While under his direction, the Kendrick High School Band (Georgia) was selected to perform at the Cherry Blossom Festival Parade in Washington, D.C. (1990 & 1995); the Smoky Mountain Music Festival (Tennessee); the Blue Gray College All Star Football Classic seen live on ABC Television Christmas Day (1990 & 1995); the Presidential Inaugural Parade in Washington, D.C. (1997); the Dixie Classics Festival in Virginia (1990 & 1995), the Tournament of Roses Parade in Pasadena, California (1992 Southeast representative); and received honor from the United States Congress & Senate, the Georgia Legislature, and the Governor of the State of Georgia. Under his direction, his bands have won First Place Finishes in national competition at the Dixie Classics Festival in Richmond, Virginia and have been selected to perform at the Festival of Bands for the Netherlands in Maastricht, Finland. His Kendrick Band was selected to represent the United States at the Festival of Bands in Paris, France.

Dr. Boone has received praise and honor from two United States Presidents for his outstanding contributions to music education. Dr. Boone has been associated with such legendary names of bands as: William Revelli, Paul Yoder, George S. Howard, Sir Vivian Dunn, John M. Long, Robert W. Smith, and Hal Gibson. His bands have been seen on the ABC, NBC, CBS, CNN, Fox, and C-Span television networks. His students have been seen in prominent roles in the movie, “Drum Line”. Dr. Boone is a member of the Lions Club International, National Association of Secondary School Principals, National Association of Curriculum Development, Music Educators National Conference, National Band Association, Phi Mu Alpha, Kappa Kappa Psi, Georgia Music Educators Association, and Phi Delta Kappa. He is a published music composer and author.
